Starting up in 2018? The Heart of the South West Growth Hub & Devon Business & Intellectual Property Centre have teamed up at Barnstaple Library to give you all the resources you need for your business to start, grow and flourish.

This informative business support event is aimed at start up business in and around Barnstaple who are looking for practical & digestible advice, reports, guides, factsheets & mentoring support.
 

The session will cover all you need to know to get your business off the ground and provide you with handy tips on hot topics, such as:

  • ·      What funded business support is available to you?
  • ·      Creating your business logo
  • ·      Who to talk to? Mandatory contacts for start ups
  • ·      How to write a business plan
  • ·      Preparing a budget
  • ·      What leagal structure do I need? Choosing the right legal structure for your goals


We know relationships are the key to success so there will plenty of time to network with like-minded business owners throughout the morning and build business relationships that count!

Business Information point delivers this free workshop-
If you are thinking of starting a business this will be a great opportunity for you to hear from some inspirational speakers, learn about available business support and network with like-minded people.
You’ll get the latest information on the new General Data Protection Regulations (GDPR) coming into force next year including what the changes are and how to prepare for it.
Ex Thorntons Chocolates boss, Peter Thornton will be openly recounting his story about the rapid growth and eventual decline of the national chain. Peter will be sharing his experience by exploring management styles, conflicts and the underlying reasons why the business failed.
We’ll be talking about the latest small business support and funding. There will also be an opportunity to network and share ideas with like-minded small business owners as well as a short presentation about the Buy with Confidence Scheme and how it could benefit your business


Heart of the South West Productivity Strategy - Seeking your views! 
Tuesday 28th November- Bideford, Devon
All of the councils in Devon and Somerset, along with the Local Enterprise Partnership, the two National Park Authorities and the three Clinical Commissioning Groups, are working in partnership to deliver a Productivity Strategy for the Heart of the South West (HotSW). The draft strategy is out for consultation until 15th December 2017. The partnership is seeking the views of businesses and organisations involved in the economy and employment to help form a robust strategy with a wide consensus from stakeholders across the area. Come along to this briefing to find out more and have your say.
